Event Planning Tools & Tips

Event Planning Tools & Tips (check back often!)

Tip #1: Convention and Visitor Bureau’s (CVBs) can be your best event planning friend! They can save you so much time and frustration, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the city where you would like to host the event. Contact them and let them know of your event, timeline, budget, needs, etc. and they will usually work with you to share your RFPs and provide you with a list of great options. Depending on the size of your event, they may even arrange your venue site visits and escort you around the town and accompany you to each visit. Not interested in their full service? You can request a ‘meeting planners guide’ for the city which will list hotels and their specs, vendors, etc. for you to do some of your own research. Thank goodness for CVBs!

Tool #1: I’m on a few event planning listservs and something interesting came across my inbox last week.

I’m charged with overseeing a corporate sponsorship program and it can be quite a chore to determine companies that would gain the most value from the financial partnership. This is why I found this website so interesting. Sponsor Hub is a network of event planners looking for sponsors and of organizations looking to sponsor. Who knew this existed?!? I’d be curious to see how effective this service is but I’m a bit hesitant because of the fee. Let me know if you have used this site or know of any others!
